OTC Markets Unveils Disclosure API Amid Record Trading Volumes and Expanding Global Interest

OTC Markets has transformed the US OTC equity markets by constantly improving the amount of disclosure, transparency and therefore liquidity in the market.  Our recent launch of the OTCID market on July 1st furthers this mission by requiring additional disclosure and issuer engagement – benefiting both investors and the engaged issuers.  The long-term arc of increasing disclosure and recent macro-economic factors such as renewed US investor interest in international equities have driven OTC notional activity to all time highs.

YTD through August 2025:

  • More than 456 billion has traded in the OTC market
  • A 57.26%  increase versus the same period in 2024

With these events as a backdrop, we are excited to announce the launch of our ‘OTC Disclosure API’ data product.  The API product will allow data distributors, issuers and investors to easily access OTC issuer disclosure via a simple interface in real-time.

Comprehensive OTC Issuer Disclosure

The OTC Disclosure API provides, for the first time, a comprehensive, programmable view into the disclosure provided by OTC issuers.

Currently, the API is providing disclosure on more than 3400 unique OTC issuers across a number of different reporting standards, including:

  • 1421 International Reporting issuers
  • 882 SEC Reporting issuers and
  • 932 issuers reporting directly and solely to OTC Markets under the Alternative Reporting Standard.

These issuers cut across our premium markets: OTCQX, OTCQB, and now our basic market – OTCID; as well as across sectors and market caps with disclosure available for global mega-caps like Roche (OTCQX: RHHBY) alongside domestic regional banks like First National Bank of Alaska (OTCQX: FBAK).  For 2025, more than 45,000 filings are accessible via the OTC Disclosure API.

Unique Issuers and Data Points

The OTC Disclosure API provides an easy-to-use disclosure distribution method for a unique set of issuers providing disclosure directly to the OTC Markets under the Alternative Reporting Standard.  These 932 issuers, which include OTC Markets Group (OTCQX: OTCM), are mostly US issuers that have elected to leverage OTC Markets less complex model to provide disclosure to the market and be in compliance with SEC Rule 15c2-11.  The OTC Disclosure API allows subscribers to access this unique set of disclosure in real-time – data which is not available via any other data/investor platform.

In addition to unique issuers, the OTC Disclosure API includes access to unique disclosure types and data points.  An excellent example of this is the Management Certification filing type which is an annual requirement for all OTCQB and OTCID issuers.  The Management Certification includes key data points not often available via home country disclosure (for international issuers), Alternative Reporting or Bank/Thrift disclosure, such as: Convertible debt issuance, Company insiders, Shell Status and key Service Providers.

Flexible & Accessible

The OTC Disclosure API is a configurable service which allows subscribers to request disclosure based on unique identifier (Symbol, CUSIP), filing type and date/time ranges.  The service uses HTTP GET and URL input parameters with responses in JSON format.  For complete details, see the User Guide.

Conclusion

The OTC Disclosure API represents another step by OTC Markets to reduce complexity, increase transparency and create a powerful, unique market for issuers, participants and investors.
